We are pleased the exams are over and we are back to full Explorer activity.
We had an excellent cycle ride from Fritham. George planned a route on tracks and we all stopped for a lemonade before returning… it was great fun.
The next week we headed out to Andrew’s Mare pond near Stoney Cross. We did a walk to practise our navigation skills and we also did some tracking, a traditional scout activity. We encountered a herd of galloping horses and eventually found the trig point we were aiming for. It was a beautiful sunny summer evening in the forest.
We then had an evening at the hut. We made some progress planning Silver DofE expeditions in the Purbecks in August and then played rounders which is always a favourite.
Last week we were welcomed to Wellswood farm by Tishy and her family. Thank you all very much for your hospitality. The Explorers enjoyed meeting the goats on the farm before making pizzas and cooking in the outdoor pizza oven. It was a lovely evening.
We are looking forward to DofE and camping in August and welcoming new members in September.
